01. Schedule your workouts
This may seem like a no-brainer but if you don’t schedule a time to exercise, it probably won’t happen. Just like you would (or should) schedule a meeting or doctor’s appointment, do the same for your workouts. Add it to your calendar and make it happen.
02. Set a goal this summer
What do you want to achieve? Whether it’s losing weight, running a 5k, simply getting toned, or being active for 30 minutes daily, setting a goal will help you stay on track. Again, write it down and make it specific. “I want to lose 10 pounds in 5 months” is more effective than “I want to lose weight.” A great way to keep up-to-date with your goal is to have a journal. Write motivational quotes, keep a log, and write workout plans – it can be anything that will keep you motivated!
03. Find a workout buddy
Nothing will keep you motivated like having someone to help hold you accountable. Find a friend or family member who wants to get in shape and do it together! This doesn’t mean you need to always work out together. It could be as simple as calling them every day and seeing what they did that day to work out and vice versa!
04. Invest in some equipment
It doesn’t matter if you live in an apartment or a house, you can always make your own at-home gym. Invest in some dumbells, medicine balls, yoga mats, or kettlebells. All of this workout equipment can be used for a leg or arm day. Do your research for some exercises to try!
05. Get outside
Take advantage of the warmer weather and get moving! Go on a hike, ride your bike, or walk around your neighborhood. Getting some sun and fresh air will not only help improve your mood but also give you a nice workout.
06. Take it one day at a time
Remember that every day is a new day. If you had a bad workout or ate something you shouldn’t have, it’s okay! Just get back on track the next day, and don’t give up. It is still okay to treat yourself, just in moderation. Do what makes you happy! You won’t see results after one day of working out, so you need to stay consistent with it. That is how many people lose motivation because they are not seeing results as fast as they want – be patient!
